Humble Beginnings.

Updated: Nov 22, 2021

From humble beginnings. My father Mario had always been involved in the earthmoving game and this was one of the first "Brand New Machines" he bought in the early 1980s. A 530 International Dresser front end loader. It was used in the Brisbane airport job where Prime Minister Malcolm Fraser turned the first sod for the new domestic terminal at Brisbane airport. Moreton bay sand was dredged and used to stabilise the otherwise swampy land for Brisbane's new runway. Mario was engaged to supply his loader to help out with the reclamation. Thus began Bonelli Plant Hire's extensive dredging portfolio leading to our procurement for the majority of the future major dredging projects here in Australia. My own personal introduction to dredging would come a bit later in 1992 on a project by Queensland Cement Limited to construct a cement terminal in Townsville. Bonelli Plant hire was engaged by an international dredging company to once again take care of the reclamation works for this terminal. The terminal featured a 35,000-tonne capacity storage silo, the largest of it's kind in the world at the time. To learn more about us click HERE
